There are people who celebrate keeping people who love each other apart. There are people who make it their pathetic life’s work to keep two people who belong together from not being together. There are people who revel in not letting others be genuinely happy, and making them feel like second-rate citizens in their own country, for the want of “preserving tradition.”
These people are assholes.

The Organization of the Islamic Council (which is made up of representatives from 57 countries) wants to make the enforcement of blasphemy laws legally binding via an international convention or treaty. This would require signatories to limit religiously offensive language or speech. The OIC wants “legal prohibition of publication of material that negatively stereotypes, insults or uses offensive language” on issues regarded by religious followers as “sacred or inherent to their dignity as human beings”.
So you wouldn’t be able to discuss evolution, history prior to 6,000 years ago, women’s rights, or the pros and cons of beer volcanoes and stripper factories vs a large number of virgins in the after life.
Fuck no!!! Freedom of speech now, freedom of speech forever. Good thing we have a secular constitution in the USA that guarantees such rights.

Posted the above to facebook. I got the following reply from a college friend:
“Yes, evolution is a theory.”, page 6. At the end of the day you still need faith no matter what you believe.
Funny how from the whole page the evolution is a theory sentence is the only thing that was read (obviously ignoring the context). Here is my reply, which is nothing more than what followed the previous quotation of page 6.
Yes, a theory. Just like gravity, heliocentrism or the idea that germs cause many diseases (pathogenic theory).
“Faith” is an unnecessary concept in science (and in reality). Science has something better called evidence, which is superior in every way to “faith”.
It is definitely easier to interpret words based on cultural, superstitious or uninformed biases than actually trying to understand what is actually being said. How sad…
